The Wolverine Speaks!!

Jason Robinson (aka The Wolverine) has made a name for himself in the world of natural bodybuilding and fitness. In just under four years, he’s done nearly FOUR DOZEN shows!! He’s always dialed-in and is focused from the check-in to the awards portion of the contest – and even beyond! His posing gives the audience a glimpse into his soul. One the one hand it’s art, on another it’s entertainment. You can tell a lot about someone when you see how much respect they show the stage. I have never seen Jason come into a contest out of shape, with a long face, or a take a placing with anything but true good sportsmanship. And this isn’t just reserved for the stage – where all eyes are on the competitors – but backstage as well. His competitive nature is only trumped by his professionalism. I’m so happy to be able to do this interview with Jason – the first of its kind for NattyCompetitors.com. And I know busy folks are so it means a great deal to me that Jason agreed to participate in this interview and that he took the time to answer my questions.

My hope is that this interview will give you a better of understanding of who THE WOLVERINE is and what he’s all about. Let’s get this party started!!

WINNING IN PHILLY!!

Christian Duque: First and foremost, thank you so much for doing this interview. Please let’s get started by introducing yourself.

Jason Robinson: Certainly, my name is Jason Robinson. I’m originally from Marlton, New Jersey, now residing in Philadelphia. I’m 50 years old I compete in the OCB the NGA, ANBF, USBF, AND ONYX NATURAL. I’M A FOUR TIMES PRO, I’M A MASTER BODYBUILDING PRO, A MASTERS CLASSIC PHYSIQUE PRO, an OPEN BODYBUILDING PRO, and an OPEN CLASSIC PHYSIQUE PRO. I won MR FLORIDA and MR Cincinnati. I competed in MR AMERICA and MR UNIVERSE.I I train at several different gyms such as the YMCA and Body World Philadelphia PA and Attila’s Gym in New Jersey. I also train at Powerhouse Gym Downtown Philadelphia. I’ve been bodybuilding for three and a half years and I’ve done 44 shows.

Christian Duque: Take us back to when you first discovered weight-training. Did you play sports in school? Did you make immediate gains or did you have to work at it over a period of time?

Jason Robinson: I started to weight-train at the age of 20. I was amateur boxer and mixed martial artist. I went to school for nutrition and weight-training. I got my certification, then I discovered bodybuilding. I’m very competitive by nature, but bodybuilding was a whole different league. Even though I was strong, I still had to build a look so I had to come down in weight from 245 to 183. I did my first show within 14 months, it was during the heigh of COVID, back in July 2021.

Christian Duque: At what point did you know you were The Wolverine? Please tell us about how that all happened because you play the part well — too well, in fact!!

Jason Robinson: I acquired Wolverine because I’ve died twice in life in 2019 I got into a car accident and I was brought back to life and the second time I had bacterial blood infection with a major surgery  and I was brought back to life for the second time.and I’m not no ordinary man hahaha I stand out from the rest that’s why I’m the Wolverine and also I’m always battling with life.

Christian Duque: Although bodybuilding has come a long way, it’s still very much a niche sport. Natural bodybuilding is an even smaller niche. What inspired you to want to compete? What scared you or challenged you most?

Jason Robinson: Nothing really scared me. It’s just I’m very competitive and this is a very competitive sport which drew me in. I have always been conditioned and self-conscious. I have always been natural and never took anything that would change that. I just started creatine hahaha. Unfortunately, natural athletes do not get the right recognition. We’re the only people who diet all year long.

Will Jason win the 2026 NGA Universe?

Christian Duque: How many shows have you done? And to date, what’s been your favorite look?

Jason Robinson: I’ve done 44 shows throughout all the different organizations I mentioned previously in the last 3 and 1/2 years of doing this sport one of my favorites when I won Mr Florida in 2023, but every time I step on the stage it’s always a great experience. I enjoy what I do.

Lights, Cameras, POSE!!

Christian Duque: One of the things I love most about seeing at the contests is how much attention you put into your posing. Some bodybuilders practice elaborate routines, while others are inspired by a spirit or force on game day. What’s your approach to presenting your physique on stage? Are you thinking about the judges, the media, the fans, or are you in your own world?

Jason Robinson: Bodybuilding to me is like art so when I’m on stage I’m thinking about nothing but presenting the best package and showing off my gifts and talents. Some of the spirit is in me because I’m a spiritual man. I do this for me first and foremost. Then I give the rest to everybody else. It’s like a cosmic flow. I just go with the wind hahaha. I can’t give up all my secrets

Christian Duque: There seems to be a friendly camaraderie backstage among the competitors. What’s your take when it comes to being backstage. Are you more into socializing, trying to stay grounded, or do you like to find a spot and stay out of sight and out of mind? What advice would you give newer competitors to the time spent waiting to be called?

Jason Robinson: When it comes to my craft, I’m very social, especially when helping others. I know how it is to be alone and start off something by yourself. I go with the vibes and energy. I am an energy person – the good or bad – I can vibe to any energy environment. When it comes to bodybuilding at the shows, everybody’s on one course, to be the best version of themselves. It’s the energy you cannot hide.

Showing Love To Fellow Competitors!!

Christian Duque: What goes through your head when you’re winning shows and receiving top honors? Is it validation for all the hard work that led up to it, – or – are you pondering what challenges lay ahead?

Jason Robinson: Just being on stage provides a sense of euphoria, brother – win or lose. The winning is better hahaha, but it’s all a great experience. The more experience that you have in life, the better you become. I guess you could say I’m an OG – the G.O.A.T. hahaha

Christian Duque: You may not realize this, but I would bet the farm that you inspire a tremendous amount of people, some of which you may be oblivious to. This happens when you reach people through your hard work and accomplishments. What would you say to a guy or gal who is inspired by seeing you in stage condition receiving awards. I feel like many people would love to compete, but more than likely lack the self-confidence and drive. If you could say something to someone in this boat, what would it be?

Jason Robinson: I’m more of a man of actions than words and if I inspire others through my actions then I have been successful. To have confidence it takes heart to have heart you have to have a great mindset so just believe in yourself you shall achieve

Christian Duque: When it comes to bodybuilding, many people see it as a sport of one, but in reality, there’s a whole corner/camp/team behind each competitor. Who would you like to thank for where you are today in the sport of natural bodybuilding?

Jason Robinson: I would like to thank God and all the naysayers.

Jason LOVES Bodybuilding!!

Christian Duque: I’d like to thank you for taking the time to answer our questions. What do you have planned for the future. Where can friends and fans go to stay up to date with you. Also, if you’d like to send us off with any parting words, we sure would appreciate it. Thanks again, Jason!!

Jason Robinson: The pleasure is all mine and it’s a honor to be a part of your interview.
